Primary Focus

Assist our clients by working on various projects, providing hardware and application support in the field with face to face and remote interactions as well as providing vacation coverage.

Scope

Work includes deployment and support of hardware and applications, break-fix support, as well as other related tasks required for the project.

These functions may be performed in a team environment or independently, depending on the location and the requirements of the work being performed. These functions may be performed with support and assistance from infrastructure teams in Calgary

Contacts

Client infrastructure people - These individuals will assist with ongoing operations and project work

Client Project Managers - These individuals will give direction on ongoing project-related activities

Clients in the field - Your daily contact will be with the individuals at the client's operations in the field

Working Conditions

This position will require the individual to stay in a camps or hotels on a regular basis

This position will require the individual to be travelling up to 80% of the time to various clients sites in Alberta and Northern BC

Camps supplied by the client have a zero tolerance policy regarding drugs and alcohol (dry camps)

Requires the candidate to be physically capable of moving 70 lbs.

Capable of operating a motor vehicle and have a clean driver's abstract

Unscheduled, after hours support may be required occasionally

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge of Windows OS, MS Office products, PC hardware, advanced networking knowledge, Point to Point Wireless experience, printers, personal wireless devices, remote access (Citrix, RSA, VPN),

Project coordination, system deployment and emergency response support for field locations and branch offices

Telephone, fax, data, and wireless radio communications support for remote facilities and offices

Network and fiber optic cable installation and termination

Supervision of third-party contractors doing IT related installations

Require safety certifications for first aid, H2S, PST, bear awareness, and WHMIS. A drug and alcohol test is also required. These must be obtained before going on site.

Post-secondary education in a computer related discipline such as a Computer Engineering Technology diploma and at least 2 years' experience in a technical support role OR an appropriate combination of education and experience

MCITP, MCSE, or A+ certification is desirable

Work efficiently under pressure and remain calm in stressful circumstances

Good organizational and prioritizing skills

High ethical standards and be trustworthy

The ability to think logically and analyze complex problems

Reporting Relationships

No co-workers report to the Field Services Consultant

Additional Comments

Oil and Gas industry experience preferred

Background checks and other assessments are a requirement of employment

A drug and alcohol test required for access to a particular client site
