Location:
- Preference will be given to applicants who are local to Fort Nelson or those who live in Grande Prairie, Calgary or Edmonton.
Primary Focus
- Assist our client in their day to day on site IT operations and projects. Providing tier two/three level support in the field with face to face and remote interactions with clients.
Scope
- The work Includes, but is not limited to, hardware deployment, procurement, break-fix and software/OS/network/server/ printer/cell/blackberry support. These functions may be performed with support and the assistance from the infrastructure teams in Calgary.
Contacts
- Client infrastructure people – These individuals will assist with ongoing operations and project work
- Client Project Managers - These individuals will give direction on ongoing project-related activities
- Clients in the field - Your daily contact will be with the individuals at the client's operations in the field
- Other members of the team
Working Conditions
- This position requires the individual to work shift work and to stay in camp on a 2 week in / 2 week out rotation
- Camps supplied by the client have a zero tolerance policy regarding drugs and alcohol (dry camps)
- Requires the candidate to be physically capable of moving 70 lbs.
- Capable of operating a motor vehicle and have a clean driver’s abstract
- Unscheduled, after hours support may be required occasionally
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of Windows OS, MS Office products, PC hardware, network basics, printers, personal wireless devices, remote access (Citrix, RSA, VPN), virtualization
- Project coordination, system deployment and emergency response support for field locations and branch offices
- Telephone, fax, data, and wireless radio communications support for remote facilities and offices
- Network and fiber optic cable installation and termination
- Supervision of third-party contractors doing IT related installations
- Require safety certifications for first aid, H2S, PST, bear awareness, and WHMIS. An alcohol and drug test is also required. These must be obtained before going on site.
- Post-secondary education in a computer related discipline such as a Computer Engineering Technology diploma and at least 2 years’ experience in a technical support role OR an appropriate combination of education and experience
- MCITP, MCSE, or A+ certification is desirable
- Client focused and excellent client service skills
- Excellent verbal and written English skills
- Work well as part of a team as well as independently
- Work efficiently under pressure and remain calm in stressful circumstances
- Good organizational and prioritizing skills
- High ethical standards and be trustworthy
- The ability to think logically and analyze complex problems
Reporting Relationships
- Service Delivery Lead – This individual is the main contact for the technician and is responsible for the daily operations of the team
Additional Comments
- Oil and Gas industry experience preferred.
- Drug and alcohol test required
